We wound up our "monthly" competitions for this season with a cracker. Mike Crowe returned to judge for us again and did his usual excellent job. It's so comforting for me, as organiser, to know that we've got a judge we can rely on to do a great job. He was even apologetic at the end for not being able to spend more time talking about images in the second part of the evening. In fact we had a large entry in all 3 sections this month so it was always going to be a struggle to squeeze it all in. I think it says a lot for Mike's thoughtfulness that he felt bad about something that wasn't even his fault!
What strikes me in looking through the images above is how many are from members who have joined us in the past couple of years. I have two comments to make from that:
Jean's "One Big Bird" was a worthy winner in the mono section and I really must get a closer look at that. I didn't get a chance last night. Maurice's "She Came out of the Fog" was another worthy winner, a gentle, moody image and certainly one to enjoy.
I can't let the occasion pass without commenting on Mo's 1st place in the colour prints, which also gained the Overall Winner's spot. Actually, I think Mo's squeal of delight said it all. Well, almost all, as it was closely followed by her shout of "I've beaten Sheila!"
Well done everyone for your contributions to another successful season, whether or not you featured in the awards. I hope you've enjoyed the season's regular competitions and benefitted from them. Just the panels to go now...!
